NEXT Camp ‘24 | Things to Know

First of all, thank you for allowing your student to participate in NEXT Camp this year. The week they are about to experience will be one that will encourage and challenge them in ways we can’t imagine. We KNOW God WILL speak to them, we pray they will respond, and we simply ask you to join us in this prayer.

Balance

If you have a remaining NEXT Camp balance it is due June 17th. You can pay that by clicking the box below:

Waiver

For your student to go to camp the RRBC waiver must also be completed. Every student will have to have one of these completed. You can find it here:

MARK | Will You Believe?

The Rock's mission statement is, A place for students to take their next step with Christ. Thus, NEXT Camp. Each year summer camp is called NEXT Camp! Each year we have a different theme for the week. At NEXT Camp we are going to be looking at the book of Mark! The question Marks asks of us - will you believe? This year we have Andrew Owensby as our speaker. Andrew served for 12 years on the Roopville Road pastoral staff and is currently the Senior Pastor of FBC Franklin. We are excited for what the Lord is going to do at NEXT Camp!

THINGS TO KNOW FOR PARENTS

  1. (678) 416-2054 – Andrew Toney
  2. Students Need to be at the Roopville Road on Monday morning, no later than 9:00 am
  3. We really want students to be focused on the Word during services and spend time with the group. Please encourage your student to only have their phone out to call you. If you are having trouble contacting them, feel free to contact a leader.
  4. Any damage done by your student will be your responsibility. Meaning you will reimburse the church if we are charged for any damage by Laguna Beach Retreat Center. FOR EXAMPLE: A sheetrock hole = $50
  5. Please inform your student not to bring anything with them that will create a distraction between them and the camp experience. This could be anything and something you know about so please strongly encourage them in this. That means PS5 or any other Gaming Console. NO VAPES. (Yes… I know I shouldn’t have to put that here.)
  6. We will return home Friday Evening at approximately 6:00 pm. Students will call as we enter Lagrange to give you a heads up.
  7. Money – please pay full balance before Monday, June 17th
  8. Camp Updates – We will be updating arrival and departure as well as periodically through the week. If you are currently a part of the Rock Communications group, you’ll get the updates. If you’re not a part of that now’s a great time to do that. Simply shoot an email to andrew@roopvilleroad.org with your personal information (name, number, cellphone carrier) and we will get you added to our RockSM communication.
  9. Please pray!!! Many adults discount the possibility of God doing something through a student. This saddens me but also is a source of motivation. These students are special and have purpose. So, join with me and be praying for this week, pray for change, for awakening!
  10. Engage your student after camp. Don’t let them forget the work the Lord is doing in their heart!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Below are some things to keep in mind for camp this year as far as what to bring, what to expect and stuff you need to know:

  • Bible
  • Sheets and Pillow for double bed OR sleeping bag
  • Toiletries
  • 4 Days of Clothes
  • Swimsuits - ladies, one piece or a touching two-piece
  • Towels & Wash Clothes (Shower shoes aren’t a bad idea)
  • SUNSCREEN
  • Evening Worship – Attire ranges from shorts to dresses. We’re not too particular but we do strive for modesty in all areas. We ask that every student not look like they walked in from the basketball court, pool, or beach. So, no tank tops, hats, cheer type shorts, during the evening worship. Decency & modesty is the key.
  • Spending Money – The students will have 3 great meals a day, a snacks and water/Gatorade during the day. If they choose to get snacks apart from this or a souvenir at the gift shop they’ll need money for that. The students will also be responsible for their lunch at Chick-Fil-A down and back. So, $20 should be enough.
  • Competition Team Gear – Your student should know which team they are on. If they do not the team they are on feel free to email me at andrew@roopvilleroad.org!
  • Themes – We will do a theme night during camp. These themes will be decided on Team Night in the Rock!
  • Cause – Each year we take up money for a cause. The last several years this money has gone to support ending Bible poverty. Can you image not having the Bible in your language? No way to read God’s Word. Crazy. This isn’t right and we have an opportunity to do something about it. So, students may want to bring some extra money to donate to this great cause. $35 translates one verse into a new language, consider encouraging your student to play a part in helping the world get the Word!
